2025

This website will soon be a thing of the past.

www.octopoid.org has all the detail on current activities.

• Projectile's successor, Octopoid Ltd., was set up to co-produce Chongyan Liu's short film After All with Le Fresnoy, the French national postgraduate arts centre.  In 2024, Chongyan was selected for the prestigious Talents section of the Berlin Film Festival, and attended its "Doc Station" with a new feature project.

(Octopoid has now become the focus of Gerard Tierney's activities, including past Projectile projects.)

After All had its world premiere at Seoul International Pride Film Festival in November 2024, and subsequently won Best Film in the Chinese section of Beijing International Short Film Festival. It had its European Premiere in March at MINT Chinese Film Festival in the UK, where it won a further award. Festivals in Holland, Vietnam, France, the USA, India and, again, South Korea have programmed the film.

• The feature documentary Privileg, produced and directed by Ali Schmahl, had a special Berlin presentation with an invite-only screening at the Zoo Palast.  Gerard Tierney is Executive Producer.  German theatrical distribution commenced on 20th March 2025.  The film is also available on Amazon Prime Video and TUBI in various territories.

•The film that gave rise to the name Projectile was the short Higher Mathematics Made Fun, produced and directed by Andrew McCarthy. Although a 16mm print is still playing in Germany, the film wasn't digitalised back in the day.  Now, however, it has been digitised by Cinelab, so there may still be new opportunities for it to be seen...
